To ensure you get the perfect fit for your spare tire, follow these simple
steps:
1. Look for the three numbers printed on the sidewall of your tire. For
example, your tire might read: 225/70R16.
· The first number (225) is the width of the tire in millimeters.
· The second number (70) is the profile percentage, which is the height of
the tire’s sidewall as a percentage of the width.
· The third number (16) is the wheel diameter in inches.
2. To calculate the proper size for your tire cover, first multiply the
first number (width) by the second number (profile percentage) as a percent, and
then multiply that by two.
Example: If your tire reads 225/70R16, then the calculation would be: 225 x 70%
x 2 = 315mm
3. Convert the value from step 5 to inches. To convert millimeters to
inches, divide by 25.4.
Example: 315 ÷ 25.4 = 12.4 inches
4. Add the wheel diameter to the result from step 6.
Example: 12.4 + 16 = 28.4 inches
